Fergie Hits Back
Alex Ferguson kicked Jose Mourinho and his critics in the nuts with this stunning win. The Manchester United boss shocked Sky TV viewers yesterday by describing criticism of him as ‘b******s’. Fergie, celebrating his 19th anniversary in charge by ending Chelsea’s 40-match unbeaten league run, said: “This was a fantastic game, a great spectacle. For an hour we were terrific."

United 1 Chelsea 0
Darren Fletcher rammed Roy Keane's words down his throat with the goal that ended Chelsea's 40-game unbeaten run. United's Scotland midfielder was one of the players most harshly criticised by Keane in that now infamous programme axed by MUTV. But he responded in just the manner his injured captain would have wanted, rising to meet Cristiano Ronaldo's cross with a 31st-minute looping header that dropped in at the far post.
Record Punt On Big Clash
A record £10million was gambled on Manchester United v Chelsea - with the bookies coming out on top. William Hill's Graham Sharpe said: "We alone took around £1.5m on the game, with bets of £38,000 and £17,000 for Chelsea, which made United's victory a great result for us. "It was certainly the biggest betting turnover Premiership game of the season - and probably ever - with the best part of £10m gambled throughout the industry."
